The Jewish Youth Organizing Leadership Team (JYOLT) is a coalition of Jewish youth who organize to create change in their communities through educating other Jewish youth about social justice issues, working in coalition with youth from other communities, and bringing a youth perspective to Jewish Community Action.

JYOLT is open to all high school and college aged youth who are interested in organizing (bringing people together to address the root causes of inequity and injustice) in the Jewish community and in coalition with other communities. JYOLT participants include affiliated and unaffiliated youth, representatives from USY and NFTY, Hillel, Jewish organizations, and metro area high schools and colleges.

Since its beginning in January 2006, over 200 Jewish youth have attended or led JYOLT presentations or workshops. Workshop topics have included racial justice, the MN Dream Act, immigrant rights, and several other trainings designed to help build leadership and understanding among youth.

This fall, JYOLT hosted a series of house parties in congregations and schools, as well as a Youth Summit to decide what issue to work on for the year. Unanimously, inequities in education was chosen. JYOLT is now developing a workshop around this issue area and will be working in coalition with youth from diverse backgrounds to shape the campaign.

Join JYOLT and be a part of learning about social justice organizing and
creating positive social change. This year, JYOLT representatives will be
working on a campaign to stop racial profiling in the schools and address
educational inequalities.
